Where did it go? ………… 2021?
If someone had told us it was going to be worse for business than 2020, except for Amazon and Covid test operators (extortionists), would we have believed them?
Well, as it turned out, they would have been right, and we even set a new record for the least amount of concerts performed by Nazareth in the space of a calendar year since the band started over fifty years ago.
Only 6 …. yes SIX …. Not the kind of record we want to be breaking again any time soon, but my oh my, they were fun to play.
We made another kind of record too, but that was one to celebrate because it was the completion of our new record album!
Using too much ‘record’ here?
Well, just for the record, I’d like to announce that we finished the final mix of our 25th studio album on 12th November 2021 which was exactly 50 years to the day (12th November 1971) that our very first album was released.
Might even have set some kind of record there … d’you think?
I can’t give you any details about the album yet as it’s still ‘under wraps’ at our record company who will make the announcements regarding title, release date etc. in due course but I can tell you it contains 13 songs and was fun to make …. and it did help to pass some happy time in an otherwise mainly frustrating year.
I’m not going to give you any predictions or details of our plans for next year because you’ve all seen how far off the mark I’ve been with my last couple of Christmas letters.
For example, due to the latest plague scare, in the space of the last 3 days I’ve received notice of 28 cancelled shows between January and April next year so you can see why I’m kinda shy about making promises in these unpredictable times.
So … I can only say, I hope ( I think ‘I hope’ is probably the most uttered pronouncement of the 2020s) things improve enough that we can perform, meet and talk to as many of you as possible in this coming year and that all of you have a great Christmas with family and friends.
Wishing you a very happy restful Christmas and a very healthy and peaceful New Year.
Pete
